Kripalu Yoga

Kripalu Yoga is known as the yoga of compassion. It places emphasis on movement as meditation where we are guided to tune into the body while becoming aware of its sensations, feeling and honoring the breath and any emotions that may arise in the moment. This guidance assists in present-moment awareness, inviting you to ‘be here now’. This practice can be transformational as experiences from the mat overflow into our daily lives where we are able to deal with situations with more ease and clarity. Kripalu Yoga helps us tune in to our thoughts without judging and instead to accept ourselves fully and completely with gentle, loving kindness.

It is a gentle yoga where we encourage students to listen to the wisdom of the body in each moment and move at their own pace. It is ideal for people of all ages and abilities and it helps us face any challenges we are going through with ease.  Each student finds their own level of practice on a given day by looking inward. We begin with pranayama (breathing exercises) to check in and tune in with ourselves, adding gentle stretches followed by asana (postures), which sometimes become a meditation in motion, and ending with savasana, our final relaxation.
